Being a part of an Orchestra with so many talented and driven musicians was an amazing experience. It made me want to surround myself with people who truly loved what they did.
A North Texas native, and graduate of Frisco High School, Trish came from a family of musicians (John Holt: trumpet and Priscilla Holt: flute). While her parents were musicians, her dad’s hobby was golf, which became Trish’s passion.
Trish played four years of Division I College Golf at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Sport Management and minor in Journalism. Her college career highlights include qualifying and competing in the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, and her runner-up finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship her Senior year. She holds the record for BGSU Women’s Golf for the highest- place finish in a MAC Championship.
Trish pursued her love of golf after college and began her professional career in the golf industry at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, TX. She worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Stonebriar and Northwood Club in Dallas, and was elected to PGA of America membership in 2019. That year, she won the inaugural Northern Texas PGA Women’s Player of the year award (again in 2022) and returned to Stonebriar as the Head Golf Professional. In 2021, she accepted the Head Professional position at Lakewood Country Club, the second-oldest club in Dallas (est. in 1912). She spent two memorable years at Lakewood, before being recruited for the Head Professional position at the new home of the PGA, Fields Ranch at PGA Frisco.
Trish is passionate about growing the game of golf by creating memorable experiences, fostering a love for the game through instruction and coaching, and providing unique opportunities for golfers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game. She is both excited and proud to lead a team of qualified and committed professionals at the “New Modern Home of Golf.” She believes there is no finer stage than at PGA Frisco to grow the game for all golfers, and she is honored to be in Frisco during this exciting and groundbreaking time for the PGA of America.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE GDYO EXPERIENCE OR MEMORY?
I loved getting to watch my violin teacher, Maria Scheuning, be the soloist during our Spring GDYO concert my final year and be in the orchestra accompanying her. That was very special.
Being a part of an Orchestra with so many talented and driven musicians was an amazing experience. It made me want to surround myself with people who truly loved what they did.
TELL US WHAT YOU’VE BEEN UP TO SINCE GRADUATING FROM GDYO.
I attended Bowling Green State University on a golf scholarship and became a Golf Professional and PGA of America Member (Professional Golfers Association of America). I work in the business side of golf and manage a golf operation. Our national PGA Headquarters moved to my hometown of Frisco, Texas and I have been very fortunate to be on the opening team of Fields Ranch at PGA Frisco as the Head Golf Professional. We officially opened in May of 2023.
WHAT LIFE ACHIEVEMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF SO FAR & WHY?
I am very proud to be selected as the Head Golf Professional over Fields Ranch at PGA Frisco. PGA Frisco is the new center of the golf community and there is no other place like it in the world. To be able to open a property and golf facility from the ground up is not an opportunity that many have in their career and to be able to lead this team as we lay the foundation for this one of a kind facility is an incredible experience.
TELL US ABOUT SOME OF YOUR PERSONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL GOALS FOR THE FUTURE.
I am currently living one of my goals in being on the leadership team at PGA Frisco. It is our goal to make PGA Frisco the premier golf destination and we are building an operation and team culture that reflects the best that golf has to offer. We have already hosted one major Championship since opening in May, and we are looking forward to hosting a very prestigious calendar of major tournaments in the next 12 years, including hosting the 2027 PGA Championship. I am very excited to continue to be a part of this team and I look forward to the coming years!
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
My parents both took what they loved and turned it into a career (they are both classical musicians). Seeing them both have such successful careers that are centered around what they love made me want the same. I have been very fortunate to be able to do that with golf. While I work on the business and operational side, I get to be at the golf course every day and create experiences for others to love the game as much as I do. I really admire my parents for always encouraging me to follow my passion and I’m very lucky that it has lead me to where I am.
ANY HOBBIES, FUN FACTS, OR LIFE HIGHLIGHTS OUTSIDE YOUR CAREER YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?
Through my job I still get to compete in tournaments and play the game that I love with other PGA Members that do the same. It has given me an incredible network of colleagues and friends, while still lets me enjoy competing. So while it is my job and career, golf is still my hobby as well 🙂
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO CURRENT GDYO STUDENTS?
There is a saying, “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” and I wholeheartedly agree. Follow your passion wherever it may lead.
